About
Located on the CQUniversity campus, the Mackay Aquatic and Recreation Complex regularly hosts international, national, state, regional, and local sporting competitions, and training camps.
The complex has a FINA accredited, fully accessible 10-lane 50m pool, along with a ramp-accessible 25m and 18m learn to swim pools. As the main training base for a number of elite athletes, the complex includes an electronic timing system, control room, meeting rooms, first aid room and accessible bathrooms.
Outside the complex is an IAAF Class 2 synthetic athletics track with nine-lane front straight, eight-lane 400m track, and eight-lane back straight. The complex has been a recipient of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games Legacy Program and has received over 200 items of elite sporting equipment, including hurdles, high jump beds, and bench seating. With the university just next door, the Central Queensland facility offers a fully equipped gym and on-site accommodation.
