About
The University of Queensland is Queensland's largest multi-sport facility, welcoming over 1 million visitors annually. The UQ sporting facilities boast six rectangular fields (including two synthetic), three ovals, 21 outdoor tennis courts, cricket facilities, a boat shed and pontoons, and four multi-use courts. Indoor facilities include three indoor courts, two gyms, and a dedicated martial arts gym. The aquatic centre features 50m and 25m pools, as well as an activity pool, with all related athlete change rooms and facilities on campus.
Scheduled for completion in 2027, the new Fitness Centre will expand the gym facilities and introduce high-performance, recovery and wellness spaces. UQ facilities and UQ Sport have cooperated on the delivery of major events including the annual Corporate Games, and multiple major running and fundraising events.
UQ has hosted numerous professional teams including the Brisbane Broncos Rugby League team, international cricket and rugby teams, national athletics and tennis events, state championships, and Olympic teams training before the Sydney 2000 Games. UQ Sport delivers 60+ athletics carnivals per year and manages over 40,000 bookings per year, while supporting 37 affiliated clubs and over 250 elite student athletes.
